Empty Jar to Altered Jar

This weeks crafty make is an Altered Jar, quick and easy to create after your paint has dried. This is simply an old candle jar, cleaned and dried. You pop acrylic paint into the jar in whatever colour you choose and swirl it around until every inch of the jar is covered, take the time to let the excess drip out before setting it down and leaving to dry , at least for 24 hours. o the same with the lid if its glass. When dried you can start to add whatever you desire in your chosen theme. Here i have used some Graphic 45 papers and tissue paper, added embellishments. I added some soft sparkle to the butterflies and I think the result is lovely. I have popped it on my dressing table with cotton wool balls inside, you dont have to put anything inside , it could be purely for decoration. HAPPY CRAFTING.

Easy Project with leftover pieces of card and ribbon

This week time has been of the essence and I have been very busy so I got my thinking head on and have just used leftover pieces of card to create this simple Tussie Mussie. Using a scap piece of Graphic 45 I cut a semi circle to form the cone shape you see. Glued it down well with hot glue and attached a card handle which was stapled to each side.
The staples were covered by the leftover ribbon you see which goes all the way round. I used Die'Sire The Leaf 2 die and made some leaves for each side using some card that came from a discarded gift box. The Die 'ire range are available at www.crafterscompanion.co.uk as is the Sentimentals stamp I used and the colour core co ordinations card for the label at the front. All ready now to add some small gifts and give as a present, quick and easy to do and you can readily make these smaller ones from scrap pieces you have lying about. I am doing some design team work over the next few weeks so may be a little quieter than normal . Keep Crafting. xxx

Wednesday 16 April 2014

So here is what I used to make this weeks project.

I used a Prima Doll stamped image and coloured it with Spectrum Noir markers, in BG1, BG4, TB1, TB2, TB3, TB9 and TB5. I added a fun ribbon edge to the bottom of the skirt, i think it looks great and gives a good effect. On the background I inked in Distress ink in Broken China and ripped pieces of patterned paper and inked those up to in the same colour, I backed the tag in Blue cardstock from the ColourCore cordinations pad. I chose a Camelia small die and the stamen die to create a small flower in similiar tones to the papers and background, I run them through the big shot in the Make a Wish Embossing folder for a little extra texture and dimension and added a little broken china ink in places. I used a Dylusions stamp for the saying on the side. Glues I used were Collal Tacky and Collall 3d and some crafters companion double sided tape, my must have. Most of the products I used are readily available at www.crafterscompanion.co.uk Happy Crafting xxx

Vintage Glitter Bottle

Having received my Crafters Companion Inspirations magazine, I used the fabulous papers included to make flowers for my vintage glitter bottle for my friend's birthday. The postcard on the bottle is also a paper element from the things that come with the magazine, and how funny I was already going to make a glitter bottle (we all know i love glittering bottles) and hey presto there was one in the magazine, so featured below is my glitter bottle. The flowers were made using the Blissful Flower, Sunflower and stamer Die'sire dies. Adding these to a vintage net flower they complete my vintage bottle theme. Stick and Spray and Spray and Shine wer both used in the making of this project and are fast becoming some of my must have at all times craft items. So handy and they do the job it says on the tim, both available from www.crafterscompanion.co.uk Why not pop over there and order issue 4 of the Inspiration magazine, you will have lots of project inspiration among the pages and you can make something right from the papers and embossing folder and stamp enclosed in the magazine package. Take care until next time xx

This weeks craty blog make

This weeks crafty make is a card which I dont as a rule normally make, but you have to broaden your horizons and try something new from time to time.

This is a friendship card, all products used unless otherwise stated are available from www.crafterscompanion.co.uk.

Lets start with the glues, Collall 3d gel which has excellent properties for anchoring down the 3d parts of your creations. Tacky glue for matting and layering, and also grab a double sided tape dispensor, this stuff is great, and you get more tape on your dispensor than on most other brands I have personally tried.

I used colourcore cardstock which is a great pad full of lots of colours for your crafty creations, i added to this some patterened papers of my own.

I used Distress ink in Worn lipstick which is a great muted pink colour.

Die'sire Lace border for a girly touch and of course in the same range of dies, i used the large sunflower, the leaf 3 for foliage and the Noveau staming frame for my sentiiment.

Hope you like this weeks crafty make, here's to next weeks, keep crafting xxx

Having a breakdown of electrical and manual items week

So this week I got bought a present of an xcut express machine as I only have a big shot and need one to fit A4 folders and dies, it didnt work, so back that went and I do not have a replacement yet. I have heard there is a grand calibur that cuts a4 and as I think its a very expensive present am trying to save my mum some money. The next thing to happen was that my kettle broke and leaked water everywhere, but it so happened that i had left my doody digital camera video on the side and now of course with the water leakage it has ruined my camera, so I have managed to order myself a replacement camera. My laptop has also given up the ghost and has resulted in me borrowing one from work but it wont even let me hook up my printer and is so slow at uploading or even just clicking onto a page, it will take me a while to save for a new one so needs must it will have to do for now , so its not a great week. I am expecting my camera today and will upload a card I have made for this weeks blogging post, as a rule I dont very often make cards but I will have to get a wiggle on and get my act together as I think i will be making a few as part of the Design Team for Crafters Companion. So see you in a while....................

Mothers Day Present

Having toyed with the idea of what to get for Mothers Day for my mum this year, I came up with a vintage themed canvas. I love the tattered old look and incorporated that into this canvas by ripping the papers I had previously embossed and layering them together, after first randomly stamping areas of the canvas with post marks and some script. I had an image of a vintage looking lading and matted and layered onto some vintage paper and then adding a ripped edge to tie in with the top paper. Adding a flower and some ribbon just add to the whole effect, completed with a paris charm and a Happy Days Label I am please with the overall effect. A small blank canvas is easily obtainable and with a few papers and stamps, oddments of ribbons and a bit of time you too could create a unique gift for your mum or special person which will not be available in the shops. Handmade is done with love.

A quick look at one of my mini books

Exciting news !

SOME really exciting news to share but not until Monday. I CANT WAIT TO TELL YOU.

Friday 14 February 2014

Up with the lark at 4.30 and crafting by 5am !!

This morning I have been finishing an altered book filing system for a birthday gift, and started on glittering up a bottle of wine after trialling what worked best a few days ago.    I have coated the first coat with pva glue and used holographic glitter flakes which are a lot bigger than fine glitter , think I will need another coat and then a final seal so that everything stays in place.  Will also frame the label with rhinestones.

Its a perfect way to make a bottle of wine a little bit more of an exciting gift than just popping it in a wine bag.

You need to allow a couple of days before giving your gift as you will glitter, dry,  recoat and seal and then leave for 24 hours to totally dry.

Picture later xx

Featured in a Craft Magazine

Was thrilled to open my craft magazine and find out I was featured on their letters page after they had asked for people to mail in a recent project they had done and here it is my altered book/filing system.

Recent Signing of books at BIG GIRLS BAD NIGHT OUT in Preston at the County Hall.

An evening with 2 of my favourite authors Kimberley Chambers and Mandasue Heller, they taked about their new booksd, did a question and answer session, and were 2 of the most down to earth women I have ever met.  After that of course I got my books signed.  RESPECT and PAYBACK  .
